Well the first year we had him his parents were both very attentive to coming to see him and calling to see how he was doing. We would have something going on at church and his dad would come out so he could be with Brason and enjoyed every minute with him,I have many pictures of them together that first year.
Brason got to go to camp with us for the first time and really enjoyed it. We go to a church camp every year. I took him to the nursery during our services and got to play with other little ones his age that way.He took his naps in the dorm room every day where we slept at night. He wasn't walking or crawling yet so he spent alot of time in his stroller too which he also would take naps. He started crawling in November.
I took Brason to one to two appts every month the first year. He was released from the heart doctors care in August and the lung doctors care in September, its wonderful to see him grow and get healthier. In December then I changed his doctor and got him a Pediatrician so we could know he was getting the best care possible. Back up a little bit here,I took him to his eye doctor in October and he said he wanted to set up surgery on his eyes to relieve some of the strength in the middle of his eyes so he could focus with both eyes at the same time.(he could only focus with one or the other and the other one would pull in to the middle. The surgery was scheduled and as the time came closer I thought about it and didn't like how the doctor was going to handle things so I scheduled an appt. down at Riley Hospital and we got the surgery set up for January 2010. Then of all things He had alot of ear infections the first year we had him and the pediatrician wanted to me take him to the ENT and they decide to put tubes in his ears in January too. LOL
He got his tubes in first and it went very well. They took him back and did the surgery and then brought him back out to me to hold an cuddle till he was awake enough to go home. The second surgery was a little more scary to me. I took one of my daughters with me so I would have company while he was in the OR so I wouldn't stress out so much. When they brought him to me after I almost cried his eyes were all blood shot and blood running from his eyes. He was such a pitiful site. All I could do was hold him and try to keep him from rubbing his eyes and crying. I had to put eye drops in his eyes twice a day till he seen the doctor in Riley again. It was such a long drawn out process. We went back a month after surgery, two months after surgery, four months after, six months after that, and then six months after that. The doctor wasn't happy with how his eyes were looking so she decide to do eye drop therapy which is two drops in the eye that wasn't pulling in to get the one that was to straighten out and focus with the other. We had to do the drops twice a week on two consecutive days. OH I forgot to add that he started walking two weeks after he got his tubes and his eye surgery done. He was 23 months old when he walked!Wow I'm sorry this is taking so long to get caught up on all this when Brason is three now hahha I will go for now that is enough for you all to read!
Till next time..

Getting Brason
Brason is my little great nephew! He was born premature on Feb.20,2008 and weighed in at One pound and ten ounces! He was born at 26 weeks gestation and his parents loved him but were too young to take care of him,he was in the hospital for three months after birth and then home for a week or two and back in the hosp for two weeks and CPS stepped in and took him away and put him in foster care for almost a year. I met him when he was 11 mo.old,he was soo tiny even then,I gave him his first birthday party cause his parents didn't have the money for anything. Oh back up,first of all my niece came to me and told me about her brothers baby that was getting ready to be adopted out if someone in the family didn't come forward! I told her absolutely that I would go for him! We started taking foster parenting classes in Feb. and went all the way through them and got him at the end of March and then the CPS worker said we didn't have to follow through with getting the liscence since the courts gave him to us! Yippeee we were soo happy when we took him. He is a real JOY to us...We had temporary custody at that point and the social worker came to our house once a month to check up on him and us to see how we were getting along and how he was doing with us! We got full custody in the fall! He had therapist three times a week when we got him. When he was born he had a brain bleed, chronic lung, and as he grew his head was mis shapen so he had to wear a helmet which he wore when we got him till about april of 2009! He had a hole in his heart which is now healed, thank God! Well I will do another Blog in a few days to tell you more about Brason!
